Words from the dignitaries

This page proudly present to you a few words from the dignitaries - the personalities those are source of inspiration for us and a continous guiding force behind the all the learning initiatives those make PGDFT a happening and special course at Pune University.

FROM VICE CHANCELLOR OF PUNE UNIVERSATY

Since the last decade international trade has emerged as one of the sunrise sector. Globalization and international trade are remarkable because hey help the developing countries in technology, healthcare, agriculture, environment, services and other sectors.

There is a tremendous potential for further growth in international trade as can be seen from the recent economic policies. Reports from various large international consulting firms indicate that the growth rate of foreign trade is higher and has started affecting every sector of the society.

Experiencing the tremendous growth that India has shown in the IT & other services sectors, one can safely say that India is now emerging as an exporting economy. India has started exporting not only commodities but also services. I see a bright future in foreign trade and trade related activities.

We at the University of Pune, have realized that the growth of these sector is depended upon the availability of high quality managers. Availability of such trained managers who can understand foreign trade & management aspects shall augment the growth of foreign trade sector. In order to meet this requirement, Department of Economics (PGDFT) has been dedicated since 1994. ‘PGDFT’ qualified professionals are already performing excellent in the industry & making a niche for India.

I am confident that the industry will find this year students (2009-2010 batch) suitable for the highly responsible job of accelerating the growth of industry and make India a developed nation, the dream that all of us would like to make a reality.

Dr. Narendra Jadhav

Vice-Chancellor (University of Pune)

FROM THE COURSE CO-ORDINATOR

A defining feature of the current year batch is everlasting frontiers of the nations. This is also the year which saw a rush for PGDFT. To be precise, we received 95 applications for the admission of 40 seats.

The correlation between this two phenomena is easy to see. PGDFT is a prerequisite to increasing foreign trade. It is the energy, positive attitude and armour of the latest skills, which will prove crucial in the forth coming year.

Department of Economics, exemplifies both the spirit of PGDFT & the University of Pune, one of the best of the country. I am sure you will find a large number of worthy youngsters, who, you would like to work for your organization. I urge you to visit our campus to participate in our campus recruitment programme 2009-10.

I am certain that it will be a rewarding endeavour.

Dr. Rohini Sahani.
